Abstract

Hippocrates, a philosopher and known as the father of medicine, was born on the island of Cos in the Aegean around the middle of the fifth century BC. Hippocrates learned medicine from his father and grandfather. During his life, Hippocrates separated medical science from superstition. The presence of Hippocrates has bequeathed a writing known as the Corpus Hippocraticum, which contains various writings and works by Hippocrates that contain the medical world. The writing that is still used and really influences life to this day is the Hippocratic Oath, which contains the ethics of the medical profession. Hippocrates, known primarily for his contributions to medicine and medical ethics, addressed social justice in his works. The method used in this research is a qualitative study with a philosophical and historical approach. The Hippocratic Oath contains important things in a profession that involve ethics, rights, morals and social justice. What is clear is that currently problems related to health services are rife, especially discrimination against BPJS patients. So there is a need for more attention in providing health services.
