Abstract

The concept of justice and religiosity in the thought of Saint Augustine derives from crucial aspects of his personal and spiritual life that likely influenced the formation of his ideas. This research aims to explore the relevance of Augustine's concepts of justice and religiosity in the context of contemporary life. Employing a qualitative method with a philosophical-historical approach, the study delineates Augustine's life journey and analyzes his monumental works, such as "Confessions," "City of God," and "On Christian Doctrine." The research findings highlight the uniqueness of the concept of divine justice as the foundation of true justice, emphasizing the significance of obedience to God and the relationship with spirituality. Its implications for ethics and morality in the contemporary era are elucidated within the context of globalization and cultural pluralism. The study reveals that Augustine's values of spirituality and morality remain pertinent. Obedience to God, the pursuit of truth, and the concepts of the "City of God" and the "City of the World" offer valuable insights in responding to the complexities of modern society. Augustine's critique of materialism underscores the importance of looking beyond worldly needs for justice and true living.
