Urgensi Peran Masyarakat dalam Mengurangi Tingkat Residivis

Abstract

Repeated crimes committed by some prisoners are a problem that deserves attention. This includes how prisoners view themselves regarding the crimes they have committed so that they do not feel burdened when they have to deal with the law for the umpteenth time. This research aims to determine the concept of the urgency of the community's role in reducing recidivism rates. Recidivism is the term for prisoners who commit repeated crimes and are declared to have been sent to prison repeatedly. Criminal law functions in regulating people's lives in order to create order for many people. Currently, there are many cases of crimes committed by recidivists, where the recidivist is not deterred by the sentence he or she has previously served in prison. After being released from detention, a prisoner does not get his human rights back in his community or is discriminated against in his own social environment. This discriminatory treatment of ex-convicts has a negative impact on former inmates after they are released from detention, because they feel depressed and have a heavy moral burden, so they will tend to re-commit the crimes they have committed.
