Abstract

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a philosopher who was born on August 27 1770 in Stuttgart, experienced intellectual development that included a special stage. First, he focused his attention on the spirit related to the soul. Later, he explored dialectics as it relates to logic. The final stage in Hegel's intellectual journey was when he absorbed the concept of the state as its peak. Hegel's thinking about the state created a variety of interpretations among various groups. Some argue that Hegel's view of the state became the basis for the birth of totalitarian states, while others consider it a guide for the development of liberal and socialist states that form the concept of the modern state. To explain his ideas, questions arise about how Hegel's thinking is related to the concept of the state and how thinkers view the concept of the state from Hegel's perspective. Hegel defines the state as the idea of spirit that appears in the manifestation of human will from his freedom. For him, the state is a concept of decency (morals) or the representation and realization of reason, or it can be called the "Kingdom of God in the world," where eternal essence and justice are implemented. Integralistic understanding, introduced by Hegel, states that the state is an integral unity of the elements that compose it.
