Abstract
The science of law as a branch of science, of course, will always develop in accordance with the thoughts of legal experts as well as based on the circumstances or situations and conditions in which the law is located and applied and creates a way for reflection and relevance of the thoughts of these legal schools through legal philosophy. In the study of legal philosophy, various schools of thought are known, one of which is the historical or historical school and the most influential in the historical school is Friedrich Karl von Savigny. Savigny sees Law as a cultural product that flows with the flow of time / history. Law always develops with the people / nation. Therefore, the law in the historical school guarantees its empirical validity. Thus, based on the explanation of this paper, this journal has the aim of knowing Friedrich Karl von Savigny's life history and how Savigny's opinion on legal philosophy, especially on the historical or historical school of legal philosophy. The research method used in this research is the normative method, with research data collection in the Library (Library research).
