Abstract

The many taboos that regulate the lives of the Baduy community have earned Baduy the nickname "the land of a million taboos", but the fact remains that the Baduy community cannot avoid social transformation. This change will be seen in their thought patterns, ways of acting, and religions that were previously unknown in their lives. Some Baduy people, especially the Outer Baduy, deliberately left or were expelled from Kanekes Village to loosen themselves from all the rules of their cultural norms. They then settled in the surrounding villages for a while and lived in Saung Huma. The transformation of the local wisdom of the Baduy traditional community is no less interesting. Those who were originally bound by several Wiwitan rules have now begun to move into a society that is constantly changing, towards progress. The aim of this research is to determine the ethical and cultural environment of the Baduy people. The data collection technique in this research is library research, namely the process of systematically identifying findings and analyzing documents that provide information related to the research problem. The results of the research show that the ethical diversity of the Baduy interior community can be used as an instrument in developing a mentality. The ethics of the Baduy community are manifested in the following values: upholding this diverse social character in order to develop the pillars of national cultural values, strict ecological scenarios, food security, lifestyle independence, prioritizing the interests of the community. Symptoms of the shrinking ethics and culture of the Baduy community in the interior under the pretext of environmentally friendly development coming from within and without. It was found that there were practices of capitalizing on bee honey, woven cloth, and exploitation of porters from the younger generation of this inland tribal community. For this reason, it is necessary to reorganize ethnotourism in inland communities (Baduy) in particular and ethnotourism in Indonesia in general, without prejudice to their economic and cultural rights.
