Etika Hakim dalam Menegakkan Keadilan Menurut Perspektif Etika Plato

Abstract

Along with courts and law enforcement agencies, the role and responsibilities of law enforcers as a responsible profession are crucial in the struggle to realize the rule of law principle in the life of society and the state. In carrying out their duties, the legal profession must follow the rules of the professional code of ethics. Ethics has a close relationship with a legal profession such as a judge. As law enforcers, judges are required to have a code of ethics and code of conduct for judges as a basis for moral virtue for judges in carrying out their duties. But in its development, it becomes a necessity that can cause signs of abuse in the profession of judges who should master and implement the discipline of law can implement and uphold justice in society. The Judicial Powers Act states that judges are enforcers of law and justice who should explore, follow, and master the legal values that live in society. One of the 4 (four) concepts of goodness that can be applied in Plato's ethical theory is justice which is a form of social goodness that must be used as a guideline by every member of society such as judges. This study aims to analyze how the professional ethics of judges in upholding justice according to Plato's ethical perspective. The method that can be used in this research is the Philosophical Approach research method with qualitative descriptive analytical methods. The results of the research show that there is relevance of the professional ethics of judges in carrying out their duties, namely by following the rules of the applicable professional code of ethics in order to achieve the goal of realizing justice and truth. In this case, the judge must have the ethics of not taking sides with other people, both inside and outside the court, and can still foster public trust.
