Abstract

War is a terrible and bloody event that brings suffering and great losses to a country, even though wars, both large and small, have often occurred in the past. War itself occurs for various reasons, whether from an economic, political, military or social perspective. Like the war between Iraq and Iran, it occurred because of a long-standing dispute. The Iran-Iraq war took place in the Persian Gulf region for approximately eight years (1980 to 1988), so it is often called the first Gulf War. economic, social and military fields. So, the aim of this research is to identify the problem of violence against religion in Iraq and its impacts. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach based on literature study. The results of his research were that violence in the Gulf War in Iraq had a significant impact on various aspects, including religion. Some of the impacts of violence on religion, such as sectarian violence in Iraq, have increased as a result of increasing tensions between various religious groups. After the Iran–Iraq War, sectarian distrust exploded and became more visible during the First Gulf War, initiated by Hussein when Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990. Coalition forces responded to Hussein's attacks by bombing Iraq, especially in Iraq's southern regions, causing a change in identity and performance of Iraqi society, including the use of force in political and military contexts.
