Abstract

Corruption remains one of the most significant obstacles to sustainable economic development in Indonesia. Despite the country’s abundant natural resources and large market potential, corruption continues to undermine economic growth, undermine social welfare, and hinder equitable resource allocation. This study aims to explore in depth how corruption affects the economic development process in Indonesia, highlighting the underlying social, institutional, and structural dynamics. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study relies on analysis of various scientific literature, policy documents, international agency reports, and mass media to identify patterns and impacts of corruption on vital sectors such as infrastructure, education, and health. The analysis shows that corruption exacerbates social inequality, weakens governance, and undermines the foundations of sustainable development. This study emphasizes the importance of transparency, strict law enforcement, and public participation as key strategies in eradicating corruption and promoting equitable and inclusive economic development.
