Abstract

The criminal justice system focuses on how the criminalization process occurred, not how to ensure that the action does not happen again. Among the various types of punishment, imprisonment is the one that is often faced by criminals, the number of inmates continues to increase every year. Correctional institutions were created with the hope that the correctional system for narcotics convicts runs well and can be accepted again by the community to improve themselves, be able to live normally as good citizens, be able to play an active role in development, and not become recidivists. In this research, the author uses a normative research method with analytical descriptive research specifications that explain secondary data. What is the role and policy of Correctional Institutions in implementing rehabilitation for perpetrators of criminal acts of narcotics abuse? It is concluded that determining the implementation of rehabilitation for narcotics users is one part of the sentence handed down by the Judge and must be implemented by Correctional Institutions. Correctional Institutions should ideally issue many policies that can accommodate the rights of those convicted of Narcotics cases. However, this is still at a general level, while specific matters such as handling of users are still not given sufficient attention.
