Diskrepansi Pemikiran Socrates Terhadap Pemikiran Sofisme
Main Article Content
Abstract
Socrates, a classical Greek philosopher, created a change in the way of thinking of Greek society which initially tended to be influenced by the misleading philosophy of figures such as Pythagoras and Gorgias, which ultimately led them towards nihilism. The research conducted by Socrates was normative juridical, using a conceptual approach and referring to literature as its basis. This normative legal research focuses on the analysis of library materials and secondary data. Socrates lived at the same time as the Sophists, who had views that were different from his thinking. Although he did not hate the Sophists, Socrates was suspicious of them because they accepted payment for sharing their knowledge. Socrates defended the idea that truth and goodness should be considered as objective values recognized and followed by every individual. In contrast to the attitude of the Sophists who accepted payment for their teaching, Socrates gave priority to knowledge over material wealth.
