Kesadaran Etis Dalam Penggunaan Aplikasi Berlisensi Secara Ilegal (Studi Kasus Mahasiswa Pradita University Pada Tahun 2022)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ethical awareness of Pradita University students in using licensed applications, with examples of applications from two well-known companies, namely Microsoft and Adobe. Applications generally have a license that must be owned by their users as an indicator of legality in using the application. The license itself is regulated in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, so all forms of crime such as application piracy will be subject to sanctions for those who do, especially for those who use copyrighted applications for commercial purposes. People are too comfortable with the ease of finding applications with licenses without paying so people have unknowingly normalized piracy that should not be done, apart from the side of people who use pirated applications, there are also many people who provide pirated applications and are disseminated to the public for personal gain, this makes researchers question the ethical awareness of people who have used pirated applications. This study uses descriptive quantitative research methods and research data obtained from questionnaires distributed to Pradita students. The results of the research that have been obtained, show that Pradita students know that the application has a license, and students also still have a fairly high ethical awareness from the results of case study testing based on problems that are often experienced by many application users, although their actions are still classified as unethical, many factors influence and become the reason users use pirated applications.
