Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered an acceleration in the use of technology in education through distance learning. This is a significant challenge in the field of education. Distance learning facilities, such as Zoom and Google Meet, have been introduced as the main platforms for students to take part in learning from the comfort of their homes. The use of Powerpoint to deliver material and collect assignments through a special platform has become the new norm in the learning process. However, problems related to student absences during distance learning have caused worrying problems. In other words, this absence becomes a problem that violates the social ethics underlying the educational process. This absence can also damage the balance of individual responsibility and social commitment to the learning group. Therefore, this research aims to analyse the impact of accelerated technological development during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a special focus on social-ethical aspects. This research uses a philosophical approach to ethics, with an emphasis on individual understanding and application of philosophical principles to overcome these problems. The data collection method involves in-depth analysis through library research from various sources and related literature. The research results highlight that the acceleration of technology during the pandemic has had a significant impact on aspects of social ethics, especially regarding the lack of discipline of students and the lack of strict enforcement of sanctions from educational institutions, which directly affects the quality of distance education.
