Abstract
The issue of morality and the application of a professional code of ethics within the police institution has resulted in a decline in the image of the police. The purpose of the function of the police as one of the functions of the state government is in the field of maintaining public order and security, law enforcement, protection, protection and service to the community. This research method uses empirical legal research, which includes primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. Then to collect data using field studies and literature studies. Regarding the location of the research, it was carried out in the West Java area, more precisely the West Java Regional Police. The data obtained and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research that has been carried out, that the issue regarding the police code of ethics and morality already has procedures both from government regulations and within the police agency itself. The discussion in this writing discusses the professional code of ethics and police morality. The professional code of ethics has been regulated in the Regulation of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2002 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Code of Ethics Commission. If a member of the police violates the code of ethics, then in order to uphold the code of ethics in a police institution, the police must be able to give sanctions to members of the Police who commit violations through the Professional Code of Ethics Session (KEP). In carrying out their profession, professional holders act or behave based on ethical values that are determined as a means of guidance and control. In serving the community, the police need morality in order to carry out their duties and authorities as well as possible, both in terms of service and guidance. The police as law enforcement officers need to understand correctly that morality is closely related to the abuse of power, this is what makes the police required to have high morality among other professions.
