Abstract
The application of the death penalty for drug abuse cases is considered an effective step for the government in cracking down on drug dealers who can damage the future of the nation's generation. This is supported by Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics which stipulates the most severe punishment, namely the death penalty, for those involved in the crime. Although controversial, the death penalty is still applied in Indonesia along with several other types of punishment, and is part of the country's legal system.
