Tindakan Indonesia Dalam Melindungi Pengungsi Rohingya Berdasarkan Perspektif Etika Utilitarianisme

Abstract
: The issue of Rohingya refugees making Indonesia a transit country became a hotly discussed issue in 2023. In that year, the majority of regions in Aceh Province rejected the arrival of Rohingya refugees based on several reasons. This rejection led to discussions among the Indonesian people regarding the actions that Indonesia should take in dealing with the arrival of Rohingya refugees. This research aims to examine the consequences of Indonesia's actions in protecting Rohingya refugees which makes Indonesia a transit country in the view of utilitarianism ethical theory. Based on the research objectives, the problem that will be studied in this research is the general concept of utilitarianism ethical theory as well as a study of the views of utilitarianism ethical theory towards Indonesia's actions in protecting Rohingya refugees. The method used in this research is a qualitative analysis method with secondary data collected through a literature study. Through this method, this research shows that the ethical theory of utilitarianism is a branch of ethics that prioritizes the study of the consequences of an action. In a legal context, this theory is important in forming policies to create rules that can protect and provide maximum happiness for society. Based on the ethical theory of utilitarianism, Indonesia's actions in protecting Rohingya refugees caused losses. This loss is caused by Indonesia's socio-economic conditions which have not been able to support the fulfillment of the rights of Rohingya refugees. Without improving the socio-economic conditions of the Indonesian people first, actions to protect Rohingya refugees will give rise to other problems.
